Mitsuaki Fujiwara

Mitsuaki Fujiwara is a Tokyo-based photographer and documentary filmmaker. Over the past two decades, he has worked in more than 40 countries, documenting everyday life, culture, climate, and the relationship between people and place. He conceived and served as lead director for seven years on a long-running NHK documentary series.

In recent years, he has increasingly focused on photography, developing long-term projects that examine the relationship between human activity, landscape, and the environment. His recent work includes Edge of Stability, a monochrome series photographed in Antarctica, and The Price of Tin, a long-term project examining tin mining and radiation risks on Bangka Island, Indonesia.
